Caprese Burger Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 Sara Lee® Artesano® Bakery Buns
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ tomato, cut into 4 thick slices
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoon pesto
  • 4 ounces fresh Mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • ¼ cup fresh Basil, chopped or whole

Directions

  1. 1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  2. 2. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Add tomato slices (to marinate) and set aside.
  3. 3. In another bowl, mix ground beef, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and black pepper in a large bowl. Form into patties and place onto grill.
  4. 4. Cook patties until desired wellness, approximately 5 minutes per side. Remove burgers and set aside.
  5. 5. Spread pesto sauce on bottom of bun, then place burger patty on top. Layer on a marinated tomato slice, Mozzarella slice, and basil. Top with the bun lid and enjoy!
